Our Doctor

Dr. Carolina is a board certified pediatric dentist who specializes in tethered oral tissues, or lip and tongue-ties, believes in treating everyone with respect, compassion, and evidence-based care. Born in Mexico and raised in Florida, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from the University of Central Florida, her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from the University of Florida in Gainesville and completed her Pediatric Dental Residency at NYU Langone Medical Center in NYC.

Dr. Carolina’s passion for pediatric dentistry was ignited during a trip to a Dominican Republic orphanage, where she realized she could be a positive influence in a child’s life through dentistry.

Dr. Carolina’s training and studies have equipped her to excel in various areas of pediatric dentistry, including preventative and restorative care, growth and development, special needs, craniofacial anomalies, trauma management, conscious sedation, behavior management, general anesthesia, and interceptive and comprehensive orthodontics. Her academic pursuits led her to independent research, focusing on anticipatory guidance, prenatal and infant oral healthcare, and cross-cultural comparisons in pediatric oral health awareness.

Dr. Carolina has drawn inspiration and guidance from remarkable individuals and institutions, actively contributing to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and staying connected with the latest developments in the field. After gaining experience in private practice in Manhattan, she and her husband embarked on an international adventure, serving U.S. military families in Germany. Dr. Carolina values the enrichment of her skills and collecting knowledge from thought leaders in pediatric dentistry globally.

In preparation of expanding her family, Dr Carolina became interested in tethered oral tissues, or lip and tongue-ties, when she was researching why some parents and infants have trouble breastfeeding. This led her to research and then train under renowned specialists such as Dr. Richard Baxter from the Alabama Tongue-Tie Institute, Lip-Tie Specialist Dr. Chelsea Pinto, and the innovative Breathe Institute led by Dr. Soroush Zagui.

After returning to Florida from the Big Apple, she aims to become an integral part of the local community she loves so dearly here in Tampa.
